Kan's little adventure

That could be only a dream, right? It has to be a terrible nightmare, there is no other explanation. Something like this cannot be possible in any way. A world like this does not exist. Things like these do not exist. Definitely not. There's only mankind. And nothing else… Right?...

Despite everything, it feels so extremely real. Whether it's a dream or not, something is certain. I definitely HAVE to get away from here. Away from these wooden towers. Away from these strange noises. ESPECIALLY AWAY FROM THIS GIANT!

This was a big mistake. A very big mistake. A huge mistake!! Probably my worst mistake I've ever made! It may even cost my own life. It will cost my life when I don't get back home! I saw it. I saw exactly how it noticed me. I woke it up. It was huge and it had blood-red eyes. And it was furious after it saw me. It had so sharp teeth, almost as big as me. They could easily crush my scrawny bones. With such a huge mouth, it's definitely going to eat me. With skin and hair! Oh, it will enjoy my young delicate flesh. All of the sudden I heard a loud roar and the cawing of the woods how they got crushed. It was a deep roar like from a… wild beast.

It's after me! I'm good as dead.

I have to run faster and ignore this pain in my lungs. It's burning so much. Because of my fear, I couldn't breathe properly. It feels like as if someone's choking me. My legs feel heavier with each step and I couldn't even feel my arms. It's as there were stunned. Even though, I still could hear the terrible sound of the wooden towers how they got clashed by the giant. The ground beneath my feet vibrates stronger and stronger.

Th-That's his steps. He's almost here. I have absolutely no chances to escape. It's simply impossible. Just Imposs--- Wait a minute. I see something in the distance. It looks like one of those wooden towers. It was plucked off from the ground. This is my salvation! There is a hole in the ground! It's the perfect hideaway and a little hope to live on. The glimmer of hope gave me the last leg strength to sprint over there. As I arrived, I force myself through the strands of the broken wood-tower and creep deeper into the ground. It couldn't become better for me!

When I turned around, I'm able to peek outside. I see the tall brownish green towers and a large shadow approaching closer and closer. As if the towers were only puny sticks, the huge shadow just moves away everything that stood in his way. The ground trembles stronger the closer he got. The soil in my hiding place gets even more loose the more it trembled. What made me even more nervous is that the he was walking directly towards my hiding place. Did he see me? If he did, that I'm seriously as good as dead!

The air in my hiding place got thicker and the earth crumbled around me almost like stake bread. I could barely breathe. My whole body is shaking more than the whole environment did.

There he is. I don't see his face, but I could see the oncoming large shoes. Then I remember that these huge shoes could crush me with ease. Oh no!! I have to get out of here! But as I moved, I notice that the hole has become narrower. I'm stuck and screwed. I whine a bit but then I notice that the earthquake has stopped. When I look out the mighty feet of the giant have vanished. He's gone?! A slight smile comes over my lips, but soon my joy was interrupted by a deep voice which makes the earth tremble:

"Come out, come out, teeny tiny boy. I know you're here. I can smell your fear and hear your heartbeat…. HmHmmHmmHm..."

Dead. Just dead. I'm absolutely dead. He's directly above me and he knew that I'm in here. His mocking chuckle makes this tunnel collapse even more. Tears run down my face. It's over for me, whatever I do. It doesn't matter. I can't even get out of here, even if I wanted. My clothes are full of dirt and breathing becomes more and more painful with every passing second. It just burns so much in my throat.

I have to get outta here. Even if it means my death, I just have to get out of here. I don't want to die, being buried alive. The pain of each breath was just too unbearable. I thought of the wonderful time in Eisern as an apprentice. I'll miss Master Taiga. I should have never let curiosity win over me. This place is way too dangerous and now I will pay with my life. I am just sobbing but suddenly I felt a pang at my foot.

"EEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

Something bit me very strongly in my foot and I couldn't help to just yell. There was something else in this hiding place! Whatever it is, now my hideaway was definitely revealed. Suddendly the entire tunnel collapses from my shouting and covers me entirely in the stuffy darkness of the earth. Great, now I'm buried alive. Just like my father who died in the mines of Eisern. Dirt comes into my eyes and my lungs were burning stronger than ever. The sting in my foot gets stronger. One miserable end for someone miserable like me. Boss Ryo was right with me, I'm useless. Now here comes the light. Surely that must be heaven, huh? Just like they tell in those stories. Wait a minute… Shouldn't my life flash before my eyes when this happens? Something's wrong here!

"HHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAHHHH!!!!"

AIR!! I can breathe again! Something pulled me out of the earth. But before I can see what saved me, I notice with a great shock what was responsible for the terrible pain in my foot.

"AAAHHHHH!!!!  BUG, BUG, BUUUUUG!!!"

A giant bug. A centipede! It's almost as tall as I was and it looks so terrifying close up. It wanted to eat me and it has already begun to nibble my foot off. But before I could continue to panic, the centipede is grabbed by two huge fingers. As nimble as the big bug was, it had no chances to get away and is lifted up into the air.

And again, my tears begin to flow down my face out of sheer fear as I follow the fingers with my eyes. There are these huge red eyes again. Now I could see his whole face. Here he is, gazing down at me with an emotionless expression. He has spiky red hair and red eyes as from an beast of prey. My trembling wouldn't stop and my throat begins to burn again. The giant only stares at me and without taking his eyes from me, he simply slurps the giant centipede as if it was just spaghetti. He raises an eyebrow and leans a little closer to me. I could literally hear the crackling of the centipede as he chewed it. He seriously just ate a bug.

And with a full mouth the giant speaks to me, "Don't ya think that it's not very wise to wake up a sleepin giant?!"

That's it.

That's too much for me. In this moment as he came closer to me and spoke to me, it was already too much. It becomes black before my eyes and after that I couldn't remember a thing.

"Wat?... Ye aren't serious, are ya? What a whimp…"

For a little moment Kenji thought to himself that this little guy was dead and that his tiny heart had stopped beating. But then all of the sudden loads of drool and foam drippes down from his mouth. The little human is alright after all.

He just fainted.

"I still got it, after all!" Kenji says to himself proudly. Slowly he picks up the little drooling boy, "I'm sure he'll wake up when I dip him into the river!"

So the giant gets up and stomps towards the forest river.
